Denis Alexandrowitsch Baranzew ( Russian Денис Александрович Баранцев ; born April 12, 1992 in Tolyatti ) is a Russian ice hockey player who has been under contract with Lokomotive Yaroslavl in the Continental Hockey League since May 2020 .

Career

Denis Baranzew began his career as a hockey player in his hometown in the youth department of the HK Lada Tolyatti , for whose second team he was active in the third-class Pervaya League in the 2008/09 season . In the following two years, the defender played for the junior team HK Scheriff in the multinational youth league Molodjoschnaja Chokkeinaja Liga . In the 2011/12 season he made his debut for the professional team of OHK Dynamo in the Continental Hockey League . At the same time he continues to play in the MHL for his junior team HK MWD.

In 2012 and 2013 Baranzew won the KHL championship with Dynamo, the Gagarin Cup .

In July 2014 Barantsev returned to his hometown club, in return HK Dynamo Moscow was given the right to vote in the KHL Junior Draft 2015 . For Lada he completed 56 KHL games in the 2014/15 season, in which he collected 10 scorer points. He then moved back to HK Dynamo Moscow. After mixed performances at the beginning of the 2016/17 season, he was handed over to Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod in December 2016 . At Torpedo he was one of the top defenders in the team for the next three years and was therefore named KHL Defender of the Week once in the 2018/19 season and nominated for the KHL All-Star Game 2019 . He also led his team on the ice as captain in the 2019/20 season.

In May 2020, his contract with Torpedo expired and Barantsev received a contract with Lokomotive Yaroslavl .
