Denise Boyd

Denise Margaret Boyd , b. Robertson , (born December 15, 1952 ) is a former Australian sprinter .

At the British Commonwealth Games in Christchurch in 1974, she won bronze over 100 m , silver over 200 m and won the 4 x 100 meter relay .

In 1976 she came at the Olympic Games in Montreal over 200 m on the seventh and in the 4-by-100-meter relay in fifth place. Over 100 m she reached the quarter-finals.

At the Athletics World Cup in 1977 in Düsseldorf, she was seventh over 100 m and sixth over 200 m. The following year she won four medals at the 1978 Commonwealth Games in Edmonton: gold over 200 meters, silver in the 4 x 400 meter relay and bronze over 100 meters and in the 4 x 100 meter relay.

In 1980 she was seventh over 200 m at the Olympic Games in Moscow and reached the semi-finals over 100 m .

At the Commonwealth Games in Brisbane in 1982 , she was over 200 m and fourth in the 4-by-100-meter relay and took silver in the 4-by-400-meter relay. In 1983 she was eliminated from the World Athletics Championships in Helsinki over 200 m in the semi-finals and over 400 m in the quarter-finals.

She was Australian champion over 100 m four times (1974, 1975, 1979, 1980), six times over 200 m (1974, 1975, 1978-1980, 1983) and once over 400 m (1983).

She is married to former pole vaulter Ray Boyd . Their children Alana Boyd and Matt Boyd are also successful as pole vaulters.
