Dennis Virkler

Dennis Michael Virkler (born November 1941 ) is an American film editor .

Life

After Dennis Virkler assisted in the editing of Horror-Attack , a horror film with Orson Welles , in 1972 , he was allowed to work independently as an editor the following year, editing a television episode of Wide World Mystery and the television film Das Bildnis des Dorian Gray . It followed almost exclusively works for television until 1980, before Virkler turned to the cinema business and cut films like Xanadu , The Incredible Journey in a Crazy Spaceship and Gorky Park .

For Hunt for Red October and On the Run , Virkler was each awarded an Oscar nomination for Best Editing . Both times he shared the nominations with other editors. Nevertheless, the nominations meant that he was asked for large blockbuster productions. Not only did he edit both of Joel Schumacher's Batman films , but he was also responsible for editing films such as The Bourne Identity , Daredevil and Wolfman .

Dennis Virkler is a member of the American Cinema Editors .
