from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Der Feuerreiter was an avant-garde magazine for poetry, criticism and graphics that existed from 1921 to 1924.

history

In 1921, Albrecht Blau founded the Feuerreiter as a literary-cultural monthly at the Hans Heinrich Tillgner Verlag in Berlin , named after the well-known poem by Eduard Mörike . The editor was initially Fritz Gottfurcht (1st volume, issue 1, December 1921), but Heinrich Eduard Jacob took over this function from issue 3 in February 1922 . The list of employees reflected the literary scene of the Weimar Republic and extended to Ernst Blass , Felix Braun , Bertolt Brecht , Max Brod , Alfred Döblin , Oskar Maurus Fontana , Ivan Goll , Walter Hasenclever , Annette Kolb , Lola Landau , Erwin Loewenson , Heinrich Mann , Ludwig Marcuse Ludwig Meidner or Robert Musil to Franz Werfel , Georg Zivier , Arnold Zweig and Stefan Zweig . Due to inflation , the 3rd volume, issue 2, August – September 1924, came to an end of the magazine.

Between 1922 and 1925, the legendary “Feuerreiter Balls” took place at the carnival . Wilhelm Bendow and Max Brod , Ernst Deutsch and Alexander Granach , George Grosz and Trude Hesterberg , Fritz Kortner and Conrad Veidt were on the festival committee . Those from the cultural scene at the time who did not find themselves on the festival committee were among the guests.
