action

Hans Werner Gehring was sentenced to a long prison term for murder nine years ago, although he always protested his innocence. When he tries to commit suicide while in custody, the prosecutor Julia Stein becomes aware of his case and begins an investigation. In doing so, she notices parallels to another unsolved murder in the neighboring village of the crime committed, which Gehring could not have committed because he was already in custody at the time.

With the help of the forensic psychologist Martin Bach and the local commissioner Jürgen Lorenz, Stein tracked down the brothers Kai and Frank Wegner. Since it became clear to those involved that Gehring could not be the murderer, Lorenz fears for the life of his daughter Natalie. When Frank Wegner tries to pick Natalie up from school, he is arrested on urgent suspicion of murder. In direct confrontation with the psychologist Martin Bach, his brother Kai finally confesses to having committed the murders.

Reviews

"Psychologically oriented crime-chamber game that dispenses with superficial action and focuses on social-psychological structures."

The murderer is among us is a nifty thriller: no blood, no murders displayed in a striking display, no shooting; and still gripping. "

"Intelligent provincial chamber play full of investigative variations and psychological irritations."

- Rainer Tittelbach

"Thanks mainly to Christoph Waltz's ambiguous facial expressions, 'The murderer is among us' has become an excellent thriller."

- Jörg Sturz, teleschau - the media service
