The Machatschek (bourgeois Franz Joseph Machatschek, born in July 1974) is an Austrian songwriter and music cabaret artist . He also describes his works as the Original Wiener Liederatur , a combination of adventure novels and music with Viennese local flavor .

Career

Machatschek is a trained master mason from Vienna- Simmering . Due to a lack of commercial skills, he stopped running his father's business in 2011. With his passion for songwriting, he performed with the guitar in coffeehouses, at Grätzel festivals and in bookshops. His friend and partner Franz Löchinger (drummer for Virginia Ernst and Vanitas, among others ) accompanied him on a Baumit bucket and other instruments. The bucket, which is now produced by Baumit for the Machatschek and Franz Löchinger, has since become one of the Machatschek's trademarks, like the hat and sunglasses. In 2012 he founded the “Machatschek Medien Manufaktur”, which unites the music label and publisher, and published the first book Leichenschmaus , penned by two supporters who do not want to be named. He gave birth to the original Viennese liederatura , which is characterized by the fact that the stories are accompanied by songs. In 2013, God and the World and the AdWEANT calendar followed in the same way . Mirjam Jessa presented this musical novelty, which connects every district of Vienna with a day of Advent, in her playrooms. In the same year the first independent CD Ans was presented.

In 2014 came the CD free love , which accompanies a book of the same name. With increasing media presence, the Machatschek also made his first appearances on Viennese cabaret stages. At the same time he was invited in 2014/2015 to write and compose the film music for the summer in Vienna . During the following years, Machatschek devoted himself to live performances in Austria, Germany, Switzerland and Holland as well as the preparatory work for the two CDs Komm gut durch Jahres 1 and 2 , which were released in 2017 and 2018. During this time, both the ORF and Hannes Ringlstetter became aware of the Machatschek. The former invited him to appearances in the Pratersternen, the latter to the club house in Schwabing. At these events, the Machatschek presented his greatest hits Gehma Giftler schaun , Easter song and Waffnstüstand in Wean . Together with Franz Löchinger, he appeared in 2019 as the opening act for Hannes Ringlstetters Fear not . Since 2019, the year the CD Dunkelschwarze Lieder was released . The Machatschek tours with the program of the same name in German-speaking countries.

Cooperations

After starting his career in Austria, Hannes Ringlstetter discovered him for Germany and interpreted his song testimony . The Austrian writer and director Georg Biron sings Machatschek's birthday song . Han's Klaffl interprets Machatschek's songs Back to School and the Thanksgiving Ballad on the CDs Get through the year with Machatschek 1 and 2 .

Machatschek wrote, composed and interpreted the music for the documentary Summer in Vienna by Austrian filmmaker Walter Grossbauer . The socially critical film, based on the workshop of the instrument maker Bernhard Balas, shows unusual people and life plans during a hot summer in Vienna. Together with the Viennese actress and singer Nadja Maleh , Machatschek recorded the songs Sunwendfeia and Christmas Waltz on the CD Come through the year with Machatschek 1 .
