action

Life couldn't be more beautiful for the architect Lea Winter, because she has just received a large building contract where she can realize her own design for the first time. But only a little later she learns that she is pregnant. Her father is her married boss, Klaus Arnheim, with whom she has had an affair for five years. When Lea tells him the truth, he is overwhelmed with the situation and considers an abortion to be the only solution. Lea packs her things and travels to Ireland to come to a decision there in peace.

In Ireland Lea meets the single fisherman Brian O'Casey, who plays the piano in his free time in her hotel and who has made a name for himself as a musician in the region in the past. At first, they get annoyed at their chance encounters. But when Lea rescues Brian's little son Patrick from drowning and then has to go to the hospital, Brian begins to take care of her. He picks her up from the hospital, and by chance he learns of her pregnancy. Over the next few days he shows her the fascinating rainbows for which his homeland is known, takes her on his fishing boat and makes excursions with her. Both begin to fall in love with each other without admitting it.

After a few fruitless phone calls, Klaus Arnheim locates Lea in Ireland, sends her roses and finally comes to the hotel himself. He tells Lea that he would stand by her child if she really wanted to keep it. He also offers her to work on the relationship, but he still does not want to leave his family. Lea reacts defensively, she has recognized that an affair is no longer enough for her and that everyday life with her partner is missing. She ended their relationship. Klaus, who recently met Brian, quickly draws the conclusion that she is in love with the Irishman, which Lea does not admit. Later, Klaus gets drunk out of frustration and harasses Brian, who remains calm. Lea comes to the hospital with cramps and at that moment realizes how attached she is to her unborn child. She finally chooses to keep it.

After separating from Klaus, Lea becomes increasingly involved with Brian. They make plans together, such as attending a wedding where Brian is the best man. But surprisingly, Patrick's mother Rebecca comes home. Actually constantly traveling around the world professionally and separated from Brian for a long time, she suddenly promises Patrick to stay with him from now on and acts like Brian's wife at the wedding. Lea, who believes she is in a relationship with a bound man again, is hurt and leaves. But first she wants to look at the rainbow again. Brian finds her there, clears up the misunderstanding and confesses his love to Lea. To the possibilities that Lea enumerates for her future, to have a career with a nanny or a career break for the child, he adds one - that he offers her a home in Ireland and waits for her there while she works worldwide. The two kiss for the first time.

Reviews

"A tearful scrap of sappy music and stupid speech sleeves."

“Of course, the structure of the script is transparent, but it is nicely threaded, especially at the beginning, when the couple keep bumping into each other. The same applies to the taunts of lovers [..]. The quality of the dialogues declines later, but even then the film is still worth watching because of the magnificent landscape shots. "
