The blue Mustang (original title: Black Horse Canyon ) is a western by the director Jesse Hibbs from 1954 . The film had its film premiere in June 1954 in the USA. It was broadcast in Germany on February 18, 1955.

The escaped black stallion Outlaw roams the wilderness of the west and frees fellows from human captivity. Del Rockwell and his adopted son Ti, who have already caught horses that Outlaw had freed, discovered the stallion and want to catch him too. But its former owner Aldis Spain wants the animal back. The rancher Jennings thinks they are horse thieves and wants to hang them up. But Aldis can confirm that Outlaw has freed the horses from the paddocks. Jennings is also keen on the stallion, he even manages to catch him. But Outlaw tramples a rancher's cowboy and escapes again. Meanwhile, Ti falls in love with Aldis, but she only has eyes for Del.
