action

The electrical specialist salesman Rüdiger Bunz is discovered by chance by Lydia, an employee of an advertising agency, as an advertising medium for the schnapps drink "Der kleine Mann". For the busy business woman, he seems to be the perfect fit because of his mediocrity ("a man like an Opel Corsa, like roast with sauce!"). He is initially used as a human advertising character in TV spots . His acquaintances, who previously mocked him, now admire Bunz for his media presence. His colleague Jürgen wants to work for Bunz as an advertising manager and often makes certain decisions against his will. Bunz is now often recognized by the public, and the electronics store is getting more customers because of its media presence. In a branch of the Kentucky Fried Chicken fast food chain , Rüdiger meets Sarah Wiener and the TV chef Alfie Ziegler, which helps him to appear on Ziegler's cooking show.

Bunz is having increasing problems with his wife Silvia after spending an evening together in a bar with a celebrity slut . After Rüdiger went on a yacht excursion with his wife , a reader report appeared in a newspaper. The advertising company asks Bunz to refrain from such activities in public, as they could obviously damage the image of the product. In order to correct his original image, Rüdiger sets up a homepage on which he documents his "normal" life. In addition, he posts homemade home videos of his wife on the Internet.

Jürgen recruits Rüdiger for a homestory in a women's magazine. Rüdiger's father-in-law Werner, who is visiting him for a few days, is included in the story. Rüdiger gets angry after the reporters secretly made fun of Werner. Jürgen promises Rüdiger an appearance on the political talk show " Hart aber fair " on the subject of "The relationship between East and West Germany". In it, Bunz expressed disparagingly about East Germany, which again had a negative effect on his image and the sales of the schnapps brand.

Advertising specialists Lydia and Jürgen persuade Rüdiger to take part in a TV charity show in order to improve the company's image. A fitter who has had an accident in an electronics store and ends up in the hospital is supposed to simulate a tumor. Gülcan Kamps , who is present as a presenter, has her own ideas as to how the program should look. Finally, Gumprecht, who is also hospitalized because of prostate problems, is included in the broadcast. Meanwhile, Rüdiger von Gumprecht was given responsibility for the electrical shop. Rüdiger, however, often leaves Jürgen alone in the electronics shop, as he is often unable to do so himself: He is supposed to take part in an action in which he works to save the koala bears , which the advertising agency later threw in the sand. After the image of Bunz was restored, the marketing director of the schnapps manufacturer has bigger plans for him: he should work full-time as an advertising face for the company. However, when Gumprecht found out about this matter, he instead made Jürgen his successor. Rüdiger feels betrayed by both of them, finally signs the offered employment contract and gets his own office.

useful information

  • Bjarne Mädel, who was best known for the TV series Stromberg , got a leading role in a TV series for the first time. Producer Ralf Husmann announced that he had cut the role for the actor. The series is "a mocking look at the trend to see 'becoming famous' as a goal in life, a training substitute and a makeshift religion."
  • The series has been upgraded with some cameo appearances in which the actors play themselves. For example, TV chef Sarah Wiener teaches a lesser-known chef something about career planning , while Gülcan Kamps appears as a ProSieben presenter in the seventh episode.
