The Saulheimer Bach is a 8.6 km long, left tributary of the Selz in Rheinhessen ( Rhineland-Palatinate ). At the lower reaches it is called Mühlgraben .

geography

The stream rises west of Saulheim at an altitude of 197  m above sea level. NHN . From here it flows primarily in an easterly direction to Saulheim. The Mühlbach coming from Wörrstadt (GKZ 25262) joins its western edge on the right . From here the Saulbach flows in a north-easterly direction through Saulheim. Below the local church opens on the left side of the stream on the Wurmberg (GKZ 25264), then the Saulbach changes from Alzey-Worms in the Mainz-Bingen . In the district of Nieder-Olm , the brook crosses under Autobahn 63 at the Eulenmühle and then flows out just before the southwestern edge of the residential development of Nieder-Olm at 118  m above sea level. NHN on the left in the Selz.

On its 8.6 km long path, the Saulheimer Bach overcomes a height difference of 79 m, which corresponds to an average bed gradient of 9.2 ‰. It drains a 24.4 km² catchment area via the Selz and Rhine to the North Sea .

Water condition

The Saulheimer Bach is one of the fine-material, carbonatic low mountain streams (type 6). Its water structure quality from the mouth of the Mühlbach is mostly very strongly or completely changed. Only two short sections are considered to have been greatly changed. The water quality is given as critically polluted up to the lower mill and moderately polluted up to the mouth.
