Derek Karl Edwardson (born August 26, 1981 in Morton Grove , Illinois ) is a former Italian - American ice hockey player who was last under contract with SG Cortina in the A1 series .

Career

Derek Edwardson began his career as a hockey player with the Danville Wings, for which he was active from 1998 to 2000 in the junior division of the North American Hockey League . He then attended Miami University for four years , for whose ice hockey team he played parallel in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association . In his senior year at the university, he was named CCHA's Player of the Year. In the 2004/05 season , the center made its professional ice hockey debut for the Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies from the ECHL . At the same time, he completed a total of five games for the Grand Rapids Griffins and Bridgeport Sound Tigers from the American Hockey League . From 2005 to 2007 he played regularly for the ECHL team Las Vegas Wranglers . At the same time, he also came to work for the AHL participants Portland Pirates and Milwaukee Admirals .

From 2007 to 2009 Edwardson played for the Heilbronner Falken in the 2nd Bundesliga ice hockey . He then also spent two years at SHC Fassa from the Italian A1 series . For the 2011/12 season, the Italian-American moved within Serie A1 to HC Bozen , with whom he immediately won the Italian championship title at the end of the season . For the following season he was obliged by league rivals SG Cortina .
