Detlef Brümmer

Detlef Brümmer (born September 23, 1938 in Essen ) is a German lawyer and Catholic entrepreneur.

Life

After graduating from the state Burggymnasium in Essen , Detlef Brümmer studied law in Freiburg, Munich and Bonn from 1958 to 1962. In Freiburg, by joining a student corporation , he became a member of the Cartel Association of Catholic German Student Associations (KV) . After his first state examination in 1962 and the second State examination in 1967 Brümmer made 1967-1969 commercial training in retail and in 1970 at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms University in Bonn with a thesis on church building and construction to Dr. iur. PhD.

In 1969, Brümmer joined the law firm Patt in Düsseldorf and in 1970 moved as head of the legal department to an asset management company in Düsseldorf belonging to a medium-sized group of companies, of which he was a board member (mostly sole director) from 1975 to 2006. The focus of his activities there was the conception, development and financing as well as the management of asset management companies (funds) for capital investors in the real estate and other economic sectors. His legal duties included a. Real estate law, corporate law of partnerships, capital investment law and prospectus liability as well as contract drafting. Since 2006 he has been a partner at the law firm Grooterhorst & Partner Rechtsanwälte (since 2014 of counsel) and a member of the supervisory board or various fund advisory boards.

Brümmer is a member of the German Association of Jurists , the Law and Political Science Association as well as the German-Spanish Lawyers Association DSJV and the Friends of the Faculty of Law of the University of Düsseldorf eV He is a member of the Düsseldorf Industry Club and a sponsor of the North Rhine-Westphalia art collection and the Görresgesellschaft zur Care of science . He has been married since 1965 and has two children.

Order of Knights of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem

In 1989 Detlef Brümmer was invested in the order of knights of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem . There he later held various offices, including as Chief Commander (Delegate) in Düsseldorf and from 1999 to 2007 as Chancellor of the German Lieutenancy under Lieutenant Paul Theodor Oldenkott . In 2015 Brümmer succeeded Heinrich Dickmann in the office of governor of the Papal Order of Knights of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem in Germany. In 2019 he passed the office on to the lawyer Michael Schnieders from Münster. Brümmer is a Grand Cross Knight of the Order and was appointed Honorary Governor in 2019 by Cardinal Grand Master Edwin Frederick O'Brien . Brümmer is still involved in the Holy Land Commission in the Grand Magisterium in Rome.

Brümmer is an outstanding expert on the Holy Land and was awarded the Silver Palm of Jerusalem in 2009 for his social commitment there .

Other honorary positions and awards

For his voluntary work in numerous Catholic institutions, such as the Marienhospital in Düsseldorf and the Regenbogen eV student residence, he was named a Knight of the Papal New Year's Eve by Pope Francis in 2014 . He is a member of the Association of Catholic Entrepreneurs (BKU) and has been the head of the Diocesan group in Düsseldorf for many years and is a member of the Catholic Lambertus Guild in Düsseldorf. In 2008 he was appointed by Pope Benedict XVI. Appointed to the Pontifical Foundation Centesimus Annus Pro Pontifice (CAPP) in the Vatican.
