Paul Theodor Oldenkott , also Paul-Theo Oldenkott (born April 22, 1934 in Ahaus , Münsterland ) is a German neurosurgeon .

Life

Paul Oldenkott came from the originally Dutch Oldenkott family of manufacturers . His grandfather, Hermanus Oldenkott, founded a tobacco factory, which had its headquarters in Ahaus Castle - acquired in 1829 from Prince Salm-Kyrburg for 4,635 thalers . He is the grandson of the tobacco manufacturer Jacob Bernhard Oldenkott and the son of the tobacco manufacturer Paul Oldenkott and his wife Annemarie von Guérard (daughter of Theodor von Guérard ) and grew up in Ahaus (Westphalia) . His brother Bernd was a diplomat and German ambassador.

Oldenkott studied medicine at the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster . In 1960 he was at the Eberhard Karls University Tübingen with a dissertation to Phenothiazinbehandlung of trigeminal neuralgia for Dr. med. PhD . In 1971 , he completed his habilitation with the thesis Clinical and medical-social problems in lumbar disc herniation .

Paul Theodor Oldenkott was a senior physician and senior physician in the neurosurgery department at the Bundeswehr Hospital in Ulm , an academic hospital at the University of Ulm . There he became an adjunct professor of medicine specializing in intervertebral discs . In 1979 he was appointed university professor . In 1982 he completed his habilitation at the University of Ulm.

As the successor to Hubert Rohde , he became Chancellor of the German Lieutenancy of the Order of Knights of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem in 1995 . As successor to Peter Heidinger , he was appointed governor of the German Lieutenancy of the Knightly Order of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem by Cardinal Grand Master Carlo Furno in 1999 . In 2007 Heinrich Dickmann became his successor. In 2010 he was made honorary governor. In 2007 he was honored by Carlo Cardinal Furno with the Golden Palm of Jerusalem for his commitment . In 2004 he was a member of the sponsoring association of the 95th Catholic Congress in Ulm.

Oldenkott has been a member of the Catholic student associations KDStV Winfridia (Breslau) Münster , AV Cheruskia Tübingen and AV Suebo-Danubia Ulm, all in the CV , since 1954 .
