Detlef Kühn (born November 16, 1936 in Potsdam ) is a German publicist , former politician ( FDP ), radio director and genealogist (family researcher) .

Life

Detlef Kühn, the son of a commercial employee from Riga , spent his school days in his native Potsdam until 1952. He then moved with his family to the western part of Berlin , where he graduated from high school in 1956 and started studying law at the Free University of Berlin . In 1960 he passed his first state examination there and, after working as a trainee lawyer, his second state examination in 1965. In 1964 Kühn became a member of the FDP.

After completing his studies, he married and moved with his wife to Bonn in 1966 , to take on a position as a research assistant in the FDP parliamentary group at the request of Hans-Dietrich Genscher . In this he was responsible for the areas of foreign, Germany and security policy. In 1969 Kühn moved with Genscher to the Federal Ministry of the Interior , where he then worked as a personal advisor. Shortly before, he took over the chairmanship of the FDP Bonn for several years, but failed in his efforts to win a Bundestag mandate in this way, since Kühn was part of the right-wing liberal FDP wing around Erich Mende , which was losing influence . In 1972 Detlef Kühn became President of the All-German Institute (BfgA), which is subordinate to the Federal Ministry for Internal German Relations . In 1981 there was a much publicized conflict. For the weekly Der Spiegel the question arose whether numerous dismissals and transfers in this institute were an expression of a “political cleansing”, because it saw the president at the head of a “right-wing mafia” after numerous less right-wing speakers were locked out and “more sharply and anti-relaxation “substitute took its place. "Swathers" have moved up. However, Kühn remained president until his institute became obsolete and was dissolved in 1991.

In the following years Kühn temporarily took over the function of administrative and broadcasting director of Sachsen Radio in 1992 , which then became an establishment in the Mitteldeutscher Rundfunk (MDR). Then he was president of the state media authority for private radio in Dresden , until he was replaced after seven years on the initiative of Prime Minister Kurt Biedenkopf .

In 1974 Kühn was one of the eight founding members of the German Cancer Aid .

He publishes a. a. in the weekly newspaper Junge Freiheit . In a tribute to Kühn's 70th birthday, she saw him as “a rock in the surf of the anti-national zeitgeist”.

As a genealogist , Kühn was mainly concerned with Baltic genealogy for many decades .

Kühn lives in Berlin.
