Detlev Rantzau (born August 10, 1577 in Putlos , † March 19, 1639 in Drage ) was a Schleswig-Holstein landowner and Danish bailiff .

Life

Detlev Rantzau came from the Schleswig-Holstein nobility family ( Equites Originarii ) Rantzau . He was the third child and second son of Heinrich Rantzau (1548–1615) to Putlos, Panker and Helmstedt and his wife Benedicta, nee. von Buchwald (1552–1581).

He became landlord at Panker, Colmar (now Kollmar ), Heiligenstedten and Drage . In the administration of the duchies he was the district administrator for the duchy of Holstein and bailiff for the offices of Steinburg and Süderdithmarschen .

Since 1614 he was married to Dorothea , b. von Ahlefeldt (1586–1647). The couple had a daughter, Dorothea (1619–1662), who in 1636 married her 2nd cousin Christian zu Rantzau . In addition to the daughter, the Holsten siblings grew up in his house, including Adolph Hans von Holsten and Hieronymus Christian von Holsten .
