German women's basketball championship 1957
The final round of the German women's basketball championship in 1957 took place from May 11th to 12th, 1957 at the same time as the men's championships in Heidelberg . The four qualified teams determined the eleventh German women's basketball champion in a knockout system . The tournament was won for the third time in a row by Heidelberger TV , which beat USC Heidelberg in the final with 44:23 (26:15) . Third place went to VfL Lichtenrade and fourth place went to ASV Berlin .
For the second time in the history of the German women's championship, the champions and runners-up came from the same city; this case occurred as early as 1954 (Heidelberg) and again in 1976 and 1977 (Düsseldorf). The championship team of Heidelberger TV competed in the final with Käti Becht , Ingrid Frey , Helga Gieser , Gisela Heinker , Lore Himmel , Doris Holl , Hannelore Kreische , Hanne Lindowsky , Erika Pfeifer , Brigitte Stein and Erika Uhrig .
