German women's basketball championship 1958
The final round of the German women's basketball championship in 1958 took place from May 10th to 11th, 1958, at the same time as the men's championships in Heidelberg . The four qualified teams determined the twelfth German women's basketball champion in a knockout system . The tournament was won for the fourth time in a row by Heidelberger TV , who beat ASV Berlin in the final with 64:20 (36: 9) . The best player in the final was the Hungarian national player Maria Nagy , who scored 33 points for the Heidelberg team. Third place went to USC Heidelberg , fourth place went to ATV Düsseldorf . Heidelberger TV qualified as German champions for the first ever European Cup of National Champions in 1958/59.
The Heidelberger TV master team, trained by Wolf Heinker , consisted of Lore Himmel , Hannelore Kreische , Erika Pfeiffer , Erika Uhrig , Helga Gieser , Maria Nagy (married Biller), Brigitte Stein , Käti Becht , Gisela Heinker and Doris Holl . On January 31, 1959, the aforementioned players and Hanne Lindowski were awarded the Silver Laurel Leaf for the championships from 1955 to 1958 .
