The Deutsche Tonstrasse is a holiday route in northeast Germany. It runs through the federal states of Brandenburg and Berlin .

Routing

The 215-kilometer route begins at the Oven and Ceramics Museum in Velten in the Oberhavel district north of Berlin. Further stops on the route are Hohen Neuendorf , also located in the Oberhavel district , a piece through Berlin-Reinickendorf , Schildow , Zühlsdorf (municipality of Mühlenbecker Land ), the Zehdenicker district of Mildenberg , Himmelpfort (district of Fürstenberg / Havel ). Rheinsberg in the Ostprignitz-Ruppin district in the north of the route is also a station on the Deutsche Tonstrasse, as are the towns of Kremmen further south with its Staffelde and Marwitz district (part of the Oberkrämer community ), which, like the Velten starting point, belong to the Oberhavel district.

In terms of landscape, the route is varied. It extends from the outskirts of Berlin and the so-called " Speckgürtel " to the edge of the Mecklenburg Lake District . In the process, deep forests, wide fields and numerous lakes are crossed or touched. The route outlined shows that the German clay road follows the Havel in its upper reaches and crosses it several times.

The aim of bringing the visitor closer to the cultural sights , which are especially focused on clay and its products, is realized in some museums such as the Velten Oven and Ceramics Museum , the Mildenberg Brickworks Park , the Himmelpfort Local History Museum and the Rheinsberg Ceramics Museum Atelier's insights into the processing of clay. The historical background of the region can also be "experienced" at many points, be it a boulder block near Zühlsdorf or a bicycle trolley in Himmelpfort.

In this way, the historical and the technical aspects are connected and the geographical-geological component of the landscape is also presented.

The Märkische Eiszeitstraße is partly only a few kilometers east of the Deutsche Tonstraße, in the west the Deutsche Tonstraße connects to the Deutsche Alleenstraße and runs several kilometers on the same route in several places.
