The German Greyhound Breeding and Racing Association (DWZRV) is the oldest greyhound breeding association in Germany. He is dedicated to breeding , racing , keeping and protecting greyhounds . The association goes back to the Barzoi Club in Berlin , which was founded on April 24, 1892 in Berlin . In 1951 the name was changed to Deutscher Greyhound Breeding and Racing Association. The club is a member of the Association for German Dogs , which is the umbrella organization for Germany in the FCI .

The DWZRV has 4000 members who are organized in 12 regional groups and 42 racing clubs. Around 70 exhibitions and 80 racing events as well as numerous coursings take place annually.

The club looks after the following FCI breeds: From group 10 , greyhounds: Afghan Hound , Azawakh , Borzoi , Chart Polski , Deerhound , Galgo Español , Greyhound , Irish Wolfhound , Magyar Agár , Saluki , Sloughi , Whippet , Italian Greyhound . From group 5, Spitz and primitive dogs: Cirneco dell'Etna , Podenco Canario , Podenco Ibicenco , Podengo Português , Pharaoh Hound . In addition, the association looks after breeds recognized by the VDH at national level, which are not recognized by the FCI but from other national cynological associations: Kritos Lagonikos , Podenco Andaluz , Taigan , Silken Windsprite .
