Devariem is a thrash metal band from Lübeck that was founded in 2009.

history

The band was founded in May 2009 by guitarist Benjamin Botev, although the band name has no meaning according to Botev. After four other members had completed the line-up, the first appearances followed. A short time later they recorded the EP Peace Was Never an Option under the direction of Lasse Lammert , who was also a producer for Alestorm , in the LSD studio . The 2011 release was followed by appearances with The Sorrow and Týr . The group also performed at the Metal Bash Open Air and played a few gigs outside of Germany. In autumn 2012, the band began recording their debut album, Planet Earth: Ground Zero . It was recorded by Eike Freese at Hammer Studios . The album was released on Remedy Records in 2012 . A music video was also created for the song Infyrno . In their career the band has been able to play with Bloodwork , Farewell to Arms , Arkona and Diabolical , among others .

style

According to Frank-Christian Mehlmann from metalnews.de , the band plays technical Thrash Metal. In an interview with him, Benjamin Botev stated that he was influenced by his father, who was a musician and came to Germany from Bulgaria . He named James Hetfield , Robb Flynn and Gary Holt as metal influences . The texts would mostly come from topics from everyday life and would be written by Alex Lendge. According to Botev, the music is also comparable to that of Kreator . For fans of Machine Head the band is too old school , while they are too modern for Exodus fans. In an interview with Cengiz from burnyourears.de , singer Alex Lendge stated that Botev usually writes the riffs as the basic structure for the songs . Then the band worked on the songs. Lendge then writes the appropriate lyrics to match the sound of the respective song. According to a guest author on disctopia.de , the band's sound is based on groups like Machine Head and Exodus. In the interview, Botev stated again that he had been influenced by his father because he heard Deep Purple and Black Sabbath . He was further influenced when he heard bands like Metallica and Judas Priest . According to Thomas Strater of Metal Hammer , the band plays on Planet Earth: Ground Zero Thrash Metal, which has been influenced by San Francisco Bay Area bands such as Testament , Slayer and Exodus. The band tries to sound as variable as possible, which is attempted by changing tempo as well as varied guitars and vocals.
