The Dickbuckel is 564  m above sea level. NHN high mountain in the Odenwald and is located in the Oberscheidental district of the municipality of Mudau in the Neckar-Odenwald district of Baden-Württemberg , 700 meters northwest of the locality and 300 meters from the state border to Hesse . The Dickbuckel is predominantly forested. Only on the south-east side is an almost 200-meter-wide strip of fields called Grünwaldsbaumweide near the summit, over which a forest path called Alte Straße leads in a south-west-north-east direction . The Elz spring lies on the Grünwald tree pasture at an altitude of 540  m , the water of which reaches the Neckar after about 39 kilometers of the river at Neckarelz .

On the south side, a ridge around 500 meters long connects the Dickbuckel with the 564  m high Reisenberg near Reisenbach . This ridge swings out with a slight curve to the west and hardly drops from the summit at the lowest point at 558  m . To the northwest, the Dickbuckel on the border above the Hessian Eduardsthal is preceded by a shoulder called Lenzberg , which has a height of 546.8  meters at a trigonometric measuring point .
