The ants come (also: crooks, gangsters and crooks ) is a German gangster film of the director Jochen Richter , who also collaborated on the screenplay, from 1974. In the lead role embodies Ferdy Mayne gangster Michel retired.
action
Michel, a former gangster, spends his “retired life” in a rural idyll. While his daughter Marlène knows nothing about Michel's criminal past, Michel feels forced to get back into an illegal business through his old gangster comrades.
The “friends” make it clear that they are serious about their demand: The young criminal Alain is assigned to chase Michel and harass him. But the plot of the film takes a turn when Alain falls in love with Marlène.
When Michel makes it clear that he no longer wants to be drawn into criminal machinations, he is shot dead by Alain in the heat of the moment. The police are involved in the process and in turn shoot Alain while he is on the run. So Marlène lost her father and her lover almost at the same time.

Jochen Richter produced the gangster film for his own production company Jochen Richter Filmproduktion ( Munich ).
Publication dates
The Ants Come was shown in German cinemas for the first time on March 14, 1974. The film was released in Austria on January 27, 1979. The film was shown on November 3, 1974 at the international film festival in Hof .
