The poverty conference
The Poverty Conference is an Austrian network of social aid organizations that advise, look after and support around 500,000 people seeking help each year.
history
The Austrian Poverty Conference was founded in 1995 in Salzburg in Bildungshaus Salzburg St. Virgil . There the first Austria-wide meeting on the subject of poverty of various civil society groups such as charities, umbrella organizations of social initiatives, church and trade union organizations, educational and research institutions and group initiatives took place. The poverty conference sees itself with its members as a lobby against authorities and politics. For this purpose, conferences are organized to present research results as well as measures against poverty in general, and further publications are issued.
In addition to the individual members, there are also regional networks in the federal states of Carinthia , Upper Austria , Salzburg and Vienna . The working group Women and Poverty is dedicated to the specific topic of women's poverty . At the international level, the Poverty Conference is a member of the European Anti Poverty Network .
Finally, a Scientific Advisory Board is also a member of the conference.
