The Nutrition Docs is a combination of a magazine program and reality TV from Norddeutscher Rundfunk , which shows the possibilities of nutritional therapy in specific patient cases.

Structure of a program

In each season , doctors , nutritionist and rheumatologist Anne Fleck , internist and natural medicine specialist Jörn Klasen and nutritionist and diabetes expert Matthias Riedl help three patients per episode to alleviate their health problems. Some diseases, such as type 2 diabetes , can also be completely cured by changing your diet . At the beginning the respective patient introduces himself with his complaints. The doctors explain the cause of the disease and present their concept for a change in diet. In some cases this is combined with a behavior change; occasionally with the assistance of a coach. The patient is now followed for several months and usually keeps a video diary. This shows progress, but also setbacks. Towards the end of the program, doctors and patients come to a joint conclusion about the results achieved.

In 2016 the WDR started production. In 2019, the fifth season began to be broadcast, in which SWR and RBB were also involved. The program is produced on a houseboat in Hamburg-Hammerbrook. Since the beginning of 2020, the nutritionist and specialist in general and internal medicine, Silja Schäfer, has been the fourth "Nutrition Doc" on the program.
