" The three ??? and Geisterinsel was already several years under its belt in both the literary and the radio play version and at the time, at the start of the audiovisual investigation, established itself as one of the best chapters in the history of the three detectives. In this respect, [...] did not ask about the quality of the content of the radio play - which [...] is undisputedly high [...] "

Sales figures

Kosmos does not disclose exact sales figures, but according to the information in the books it can be concluded that there were 15 editions and the book was thus available in 1973–1989 (twelve editions) and 2007–2009 (three editions). The number of copies can be found in the first eleven editions. There were 195,000 in total. If you consider that four more editions followed, Die Geisterinsel is one of the most frequently published books in the series.

At the start of the film, the book was published in a revised version in 2007, in which Alfred Hitchcock was replaced by Albert Hitfield (new edition 2008) and in 2009 the book was published in the Classic Edition , in which only works by the series creator Robert Arthur are included.

Trivia

  • The hatred of foreigners is subsequently portrayed as very strong.
  • In Fishingport , the nearest town, there is only one shared telephone line. This means that everyone can overhear the conversations someone else is having.
  • Because of Justus' cold, he cannot be at the showdown .

The film

A film version of the book was released in 2007. However, the film has little in common with the book. So Chris became a girl, the ghost island was moved to South Africa and the arch enemy of the three ???, Victor Hugenay , who actually had nothing to do with the story, was the unscrupulous perpetrator.
