The Original fidelen Lavanttaler (also Hubert Urach and his Original fidelen Lavanttaler and other name variants) is an Austrian folk music group from the Lavanttal founded in 1963 by the three Urach brothers from Ettendorf (municipality of Lavamünd) as a Trio Urach .

Band history

The three brothers Hubert, Robert and Leopold Urach, sons of a mountain farming family, learned from their father to make music at home and to play various instruments at an early age . In 1963 they first appeared as the Trio Urach, initially mainly at family celebrations, later also professionally. With the joining of the musician son Peter Riegler and Othmar Desembekowitsch, who joined a little later, the quintet appeared from 1965 under the name Die Fidelen Lavanttaler .

The group was also seen on July 24, 2010 in the ORF broadcast When the Musi is playing . Other band members in the meantime were Christian Baumgartner (guitar) and Harald Haller (trumpet).

The group published numerous recordings and sold a total of more than one and a half million records, including 22 gold , eight platinum, one titanium, diamond and double crystal records .

On the occasion of the 20th anniversary, Governor Jörg Haider presented the group with the Carinthian seal of approval. In 2013 the five musicians were awarded the Golden Merit of the Republic of Austria .

Since the death of Robert Urach, the formation is no longer professional.
