action
The 25-year-old Dieter Hartenstein is a good worker as a clerk at a large insurance company. He doesn't seem to care much about it himself. In his free time, too, he mainly socializes with people who have nothing to do with the company or his job. Hartenstein is both dissatisfied with the daily grind and with his tasks and duties, which are basically none for him. One morning he just stays away from work.
Hartenstein goes to a friend and meets a girl. Together they take part in political campaigns that bring them together with committed political peers. With the new friend he makes some money as a representative. But he does not get through in this industry and is always between the fronts: on the one hand, he is unable to analyze and determine his own situation, on the other hand he is cut off from those who formulate their criticism effectively. He also has no connection with the rebels. He gropes in the dark without a goal and ultimately without measure. Eventually Hartenstein steals a car; but before he flees across the border abroad, he shoots himself.
Reviews
The Protestant Film Observer draws the following conclusion: “This television film does not try to create a well-rounded story; rather it shows stations, approaches, attempts, ways out, failures. He does it without a raised index finger, and that makes him likable. [...] If you want to deal with the problems of today's youth, understand them or at least get to know their problems, their protest actions, you should watch this television film carefully. Displeasure and disappointment is often the problem for these young people. One should take note of them. "
