The carpenter Michael and the nurse Sabine Heitmann have been married for 20 years and have three children together. However, Sabine can no longer work in her old job because she has to look after the children and has no money for a childminder. When a very good friend dies, they both rethink their lives. Things are really not going well with both of them. At the funeral they meet an old friend who has emigrated to Costa Rica and raves about the country. There you can still realize yourself and find your happiness. Both think twice about it and place all their hopes in emigration. However, the preparations are chaotic.
