The Brooklyn Thugs (also known as "Terror in Brooklyn") is an American action film, produced in 1980 and directed by John Flynn.
action
The seaman Tommy is waiting for his next assignment. He is moving to a shabby area of New York where gangs rule the streets. These include the "Souls" led by Angel Cruz.
Tommy meets his neighbor, the hairdresser Marsha. At first he stayed out of gang wars. One day he is beaten up by the gangsters, Marsha takes him in and takes care of him. He falls in love with her.
Tommy fights the "Souls" after they murder a human. He, Carmine and a few residents of the district oppose the "Souls". As they approach, more and more neighbors join in who also want to fight the gang. Its members are disarmed after a fight and handed over to the police. Tommy beats up Angel Cruz in a duel, who is then arrested. Citizens report charges against the gang.
Production notes
John Flynn described working with Jan Michael Vincent:
“Jan was a drinker even then. He had Heineken for breakfast. In one scene we literally had to put him on his feet. Poor Jan. He adored Danny Aiello. He wanted to give him more text. I told him not to mess up the script like that. But Jan was a nice boy. He never thought of himself as an actor. It was uncomfortable for him to be an actor. Jan always thought that he would do a terrible job and that people would laugh at him ..... Jan was like a little kid. "
