The Trapp Family - A Life for Music is a German-Austrian film by Ben Verbong , based on the book "Memories before and after The Sound of Music" by Agathe von Trapp . The cinema release in Germany was on November 12, 2015.

action

As the oldest of many siblings, Agathe von Trapp has a special responsibility early on. While the relationship with her father, the renowned naval officer Georg von Trapp, is somewhat difficult, Agathes stepmother Maria, with whom she has a no less problematic relationship, succeeds in awakening a love for music in the entire family. Agathe finds consolation in her love for her childhood friend Sigi - and in music. It turns out that Agathe is a talented singer, so she has the best possible support from her family, as well as the famous singer Lotte Lehmann. When the Nazi regime came to power, the family finally had to emigrate to the USA, where Agathe became a star.

criticism

The film service judges that the film is a “social drama about the famous singing family, freely designed based on the autobiography of Agathe von Trapp, which celebrates a superficial idyll and stilted political commitment, but in reality only conveys the musty zeitgeist of American family films from the run-up to Christmas ".
