Die Grüne Manuela - A film from the south is a German feature film from 1923 based on the novel Die Grüne Manuela by Clara Ratzka .

The orphan Manuela is raised by nuns in Spain. As a young woman, she earns her living as a dancer in a nightclub until she can no longer stand it and flees. She finds accommodation in the inn owned by the smuggler family Llorrente. One son, Carlos Llorrente, and Manuela fall in love. The other son, Juan, also falls in love with Manuela, but has no chance. When Carlos and Manuela want to get married, Juan betrays them to the authorities. Carlos manages to escape, and Manuela is now being courted by Lieutenant Count Henry d'Amiron. When Carlos shows up to see Manuela, he is captured and sentenced to death. Juan, however, who regrets his betrayal, manages to free his brother. But now he will be executed for this. Carlos and Manuela disappear across the sea.
