Life

His parents were Deichvogt Johann Christoph Witting (1735–1791) and Sophie Elisabeth born. Völcker.

Only two travel grants, 1795 and 1797, amounting to 150 and 120 Reichstalers, respectively, have been received for his training.

His subordinate Georg Ludwig Friedrich Laves soon surpassed him. From 1818 to 1837 he was also a master road builder for the royal road construction commission.

On February 2, 1803 he married Dorothee Elisabeth Eggeling (1777–1839) in Dannenberg (Elbe ).
