Dieter Boehler

Dieter Böhler SJ (born June 6, 1961 in Tiengen (Upper Rhine) ) is a German Roman Catholic theologian .

Life

After graduating from high school in Villingen-Schwenningen in 1980, he studied Catholic theology from 1980 to 1983 at the Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg and the University of Innsbruck . He entered the Jesuit order in 1983. From 1985 to 1987 he studied philosophy at the Munich School of Philosophy , where he obtained a bachelor's degree in philosophy. From 1987 to 1988 he was a teacher in a Vietnamese refugee camp in Thailand . After studying theology (1988–1991) at the PTH Sankt Georgen and graduating with a diploma in Catholic theology, he was ordained a priest on July 31, 1991. He completed his studies in biblical studies (1991–1993) at the Pontificio Istituto Biblico in Rome with a licentiate in biblical studies. He completed his doctoral studies (1993–1997) in Freiburg im Üechtland as Dr. theol. from. He did a teaching and study visit to the USA , Central America and Mexico from 1997 to 1998. Since 1998 he has been teaching at the PTH Sankt Georgen. From 2001 to 2016 he was an advisor to Commission V (Liturgy) of the German Bishops' Conference . From 2005 to 2013 he worked for the Episcopal Commission Ecclesia Celebrans for the new translation of the Roman Missal . From 2006 to 2012 he worked for the Episcopal Commission Ecclesia Celebrans for the revision of the uniform translation . After completing his habilitation in 2008 at the University of Vienna , he was appointed Professor of Exegesis of the Old Testament at the PTH Sankt Georgen in 2008. From 2010 to 2016 he was consultor of the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Order of the Sacraments .
