Dieter Bergner

Dieter Bergner (born February 5, 1928 in Bautzen ; † October 7, 1984 ) was a German Marxist philosopher , rector of the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg and member of the SED district leadership in Halle.

Life

Bergner, the son of a worker, was employed in the Reich Labor Service and as an Air Force helper from 1943 and was taken prisoner of war shortly before the end of the war , from which he was released after the end of the Second World War . From 1946 to 1948 he was a member of the LDP . After Bergner graduated from high school in Bautzen in 1947 , he studied history as a major and philosophy and German studies as a minor until 1953 . In 1949 he joined the SED .

In 1953 Bergner was an aspirant at the Philosophical Seminar of the Martin Luther University in Halle (Saale) and then moved with Georg Mende to the Friedrich Schiller University Jena , where he began his 1956 work The treatment of the national question in Germany by the patriot Johann Gottlieb Fichte received his doctorate . Afterwards Bergner became a lecturer for Marxism-Leninism in the basic course in Jena .

In 1958 Bergner returned to the University of Halle and was appointed professor for dialectical and historical materialism . Until 1968 he was also director of the Institute for Philosophy. 1969 Bergner was with texts in the field analysis and critique of bourgeois philosophy and ideology of present habilitated and appointed professor of history of philosophy.

From 1972 to 1977 he was Dean of the Philosophical Faculty and then until 1980, as the successor to Eberhard Poppe , Rector of the University of Halle.

From 1971 to 1984 Bergner was a member of the SED district leadership in Halle .

Bergner was married and had three children.
