Dieter Burger (born June 9, 1938 in Backnang ; † October 5, 2007 ) was a German administrative lawyer and local politician . From 1977 to 1993 he was Lord Mayor of the large district town of Sindelfingen .

Life

Burger studied law at the universities in Tübingen , Hamburg and Munich . After his first state examination in 1961 in Tübingen, he served as Otto Bachof's assistant at the chair for public law from 1965 . In 1966 he did his doctorate under Ludwig Raiser on the legal status of public companies in private law and passed his second state examination in 1967 in Stuttgart.

After employment in the district offices of Tübingen and Waldshut , he joined the Stuttgart regional council in 1970 , where he was entrusted with questions of public planning and construction law.

With the election as mayor and first deputy mayor of Kornwestheim , the entry into local politics followed in 1972. In 1977 he was elected, supported by the Free Voters, to succeed Arthur Gruber in the office of Lord Mayor of Sindelfingen and from 1979 until his death he was also a member of the district council of the Böblingen district . Thanks to the high income from trade tax, a whole series of infrastructural measures were implemented during his term of office, such as the construction of kindergartens and school sports halls, a new building called an "octagon" for the Sindelfingen gallery and a spacious new building for the school for music, theater and dance . The new development area Hinterweil was continued with further construction phases, but without an initially projected “urban dominant feature” with 18 floors. In 1985, Burger was confirmed in office; in 1993, when he ran for a third term, he was defeated by Joachim Rücker . Afterwards he worked again as a lawyer in his law firm.
