Dieter Hörner

Dieter Hörner (born April 23, 1941 in Edenkoben ; †  May 23, 2014 in Landau ) was a German politician ( CDU ).

Life and work

After attending elementary school and the Progymnasium , Dieter Hörner passed the secondary school leaving certificate in 1957 . This was followed by a traineeship as a journalist from 1960 to 1962 . He then worked until 1964 as editor of the newspaper Die Rheinpfalz in Landau. Since 1964 Hörner was a freelance journalist and correspondent for the German Press Agency , from 1971 to 1983 freelance journalist and managing director of the Südliche Weinstrasse association in Landau. From 1988 until his death he was president of the association. He was also a co-owner of a publishing house.

Political career

Dieter Hörner was from 1972 to 1976 chairman of the CDU community association Landau-Land and from 1977 to 1989 chairman of the CDU community association Offenbach . In four election periods (August 15, 1981 to May 19, 1996) he was a member of the Rhineland-Palatinate state parliament . He moved up in the 9th electoral term for Dieter Ziegler . In a further three electoral terms (9-11), Hörner was a member of the Committee on Agriculture, Viticulture and Forestry, in the 10th and 12th electoral periods he was also a member of the Media Policy Committee, of which in the 12th electoral term as deputy chairman. In the 9th electoral term he belonged to the investigative committee for wine and in the 11th electoral period to the investigative committee of the Pieroth company .

He was chairman of the CDU parliamentary group of the Offenbach municipal council and first alderman of the Offenbach municipality . From 1989 to 2004 Hörner was the mayor of Bornheim .

Other engagement

From 1974 to 1996 he was a member of the broadcasting council of the SWF , chairman of the Deutsche Weinstrasse board of trustees, president of the Rotary Club Bad Bergzabern, president of the first German educational wine trail in Schweigen and founding chairman of Aktion Pfalz Storch . In 1985, during his activity in the Broadcasting Council, he had the idea for the German Wine Road Adventure Day , the great success of which became a tradition from 1987 onwards. Hörner was also active as chairman of the Palatinate Association of Journalists.
