The Szob district ( Hungarian Szobi járás ) is a district in the north of the central Hungarian Pest county . The northernmost district of the county borders on the Szentendre district in the south and Vác district in the southeast . Esztergom County ( Komárom-Esztergom County ) in the southwest, Balassagyarmat and Rétság Counties ( Nógrád County ) in the east . The district borders Slovakia (ten border municipalities) to the north and west .
history
The district emerged during the Hungarian administrative reform in early 2013 as the successor to the small area of the same name (Hungarian Szobi kistérség ). The new district was strengthened by four communities from the southeast (from the small area of Vác ).

The Szob district has an average municipality size of 1,436 inhabitants on an area of 25.78 square kilometers. The most populous district also has the lowest population density in the county. The district seat is located in the largest city, Szob , in the south-west of the district.
