Szigetszentmiklós ( Hungarian Szigetszentmiklósi járás ) is a district in the central Hungarian Pest county , south of the capital Budapest . It borders on the Gyál district to the west, the Dabas and Ráckeve districts to the south and the Érd district to the west . In the north, the provincial capital Budapest forms the county border.

history

The district was created in the course of the Hungarian administrative reform at the beginning of 2013 from parts of the small area Ráckeve (Hungarian Ráckevei kistérség ). The small area gave up 9 of its 20 municipalities, corresponding to a third of the area or three quarters of the population.

The Szigetszentmiklós district has an average community size of 12,624 inhabitants on an area of ​​23.48 square kilometers. The third most populous district has the third largest population density in the county. The district seat is located in the largest city, Szigetszentmiklós , in the north of the district. The city touches the 21st district ( XXI. Kerület ) of Budapest .
