Vác ( Hungarian Váci járás ) is a district in the north of the central Hungarian Pest county . It borders on the districts of Szob and Szentendre in the west, on the district of Dunakeszi in the south-west, on the district of Gödöllő in the south and on the district of Aszód in the southeast . In the north and northeast, Nógrád county borders on Vác county with the counties Rétság , Balassagyarmat and Pásztó .
history
The district emerged during the Hungarian administrative reform in early 2013 as the successor to the small area of the same name (Hungarian Váci kistérség ). At that time, the small area gave up four municipalities to the Szob district , for this purpose the new Vác district received three municipalities from the dissolved small area Veresegyház . This was accompanied by a "loss of territory" of 16.1% of the area and 4.15% of the population.

The district of Vác has an average municipality size of 3,735 inhabitants on an area of 20.00 square kilometers. The population density is slightly below the value of the county (193). The district seat is located in the largest city, Vác , in the west of the district.
