Dieter Michael Grohmann

Dieter Michael Grohmann (born December 31, 1963 in Vienna ) is an Austrian filmmaker and media artist . He is a graduate of the New York Film Academy (2006) and recipient of the Cross of Honor for Science and Art .

Life

In 1991 Grohmann obtained his Magister iuris with the font Form or Function - Legal Protection of Three-Dimensional Product Design at the University of Salzburg . From 1993 he worked in the Salzburg Chamber of Commerce in city ​​marketing and as a branch manager. From 1996 to 1998 he was managing director of the ÖVP parliamentary group in the Salzburg state parliament , after which, among other things, he was branch manager of the professional associations for management consulting / IT and advertising / market communication of the Austrian Chamber of Commerce . Since 2006 Grohmann has been director of the media division of the EU trade association SMEunited ( UEAPME until 2017 ).

Parallel to his work at the Chamber of Commerce, Grohmann developed his creative work, which resulted in advertising , image and lobby films for various European associations. In 2009 he designed the media installation How it feels to be an entrepreneur for the European Commission . As part of Austria's EU Council Presidency in 2018, he supported the cultural activities of his home country. Since 2010 Grohmann has produced a large number of short feature films and documentaries, which he directed and mostly also wrote the script . Some of these films were included in the official selection of international film festivals.

Grohmann won a number of international film awards such as u. a. for his film follow me 2016 in Hollywood (USA) the award for the best foreign short film. In 2017 his short film "The Hourglass" was awarded at the WIND International Film Festival in Hollywood, in the same year his films were shown in cooperation with the Austrian Cultural Forum in Brussels at the renowned "Cinéma Vendôme" in Brussels.

In 2018 his film "A Walk in the Park" received the Genre Award "Horror" from the Austrian Film Festival. In 2019 the short film award of the Independent Talents International Film Festival followed for "white dialogue".

From the hands of the Ambassador to Belgium, Elisabeth Kornfeind , on behalf of Federal President Alexander van der Bellen, he received the Cross of Honor for Science and Art in Brussels in October 2019 .

He is a member of the Catholic student associations KaV Norica Vienna (since 1986), KSHV Lodronia Salzburg (since 1990) and KAV Capitolina Rome (since 1998).
