Dieter Sturma
Dieter Sturma (born March 25, 1953 in Minden ) is a German philosopher .
Sturma has been Professor of Philosophy at the University of Bonn since 2007, with a special focus on ethics in the life sciences . At the same time, he is director of the Institute for Science and Ethics (IWE) at the University of Bonn , the German Reference Center for Ethics in the Biosciences (DRZE) at the University of Bonn and the North Rhine-Westphalian Academy of Sciences in Düsseldorf, as well as the Institute for Ethics in the Neuroscience (INM-8) at the Institute for Neuroscience and Medicine at Forschungszentrum Jülich .

Research priorities
Central topics of his research are philosophical anthropology , philosophy of mind , philosophy of person and the philosophy of freedom . Most of his questions can be assigned to the discipline of ethics , especially applied ethics . In his research on the history of philosophy, Sturma focuses in particular on humanism , the English and French philosophy of the 18th century, the classical German philosophy and the philosophy of the 20th century. With currently ten employees, his chair is the most staffed chair of the Institute for Philosophy at the University of Bonn.
