Dieter Wöstenfeld

Dieter Wöstenfeld (born April 17, 1930 in Dresden , † April 13, 2009 in Berlin ) was a politician and functionary of the SED in the GDR .

Life

The son of a train driver completed after visiting the elementary school , a vocational training to locksmith and was then in the Lokinstandhaltung the repair shop of the Deutsche Reichsbahn active in Dresden-Friedrichstadt. During this time he worked in the Otto Buchwitz youth brigade , which in August 1949 won one of the first national prizes for science and technology III. Class received. Between 1949 and 1952 he attended the Workers and Farmers Faculty (ABF) of the Technical University of Dresden and then studied at the University of Transportation (HfV) in Dresden, where he graduated in 1956 as a graduate engineer.

He then returned to the Reichsbahnausbesserungswerk (RAW) Dresden as an employee and became chief technologist there after joining the SED in 1958. In 1959, however, he moved to the Ministry of Transport, where he was one after the other, head of a department and chief engineer, before he was head of the main administration of the Reichsbahn repair works in the Ministry of Transport between 1965 and 1971. From 1971 to 1977 he was president of the Reichsbahn repair works and at the same time deputy to the general director of the Deutsche Reichsbahn. During this time, from 1971 to 1972, he also studied at the Karl Marx party college .

From July 1977 to May 1987 Wöstenfeld was Deputy Minister for Transport for Science, Technology and Investment. He was honored with the Bronze Order of Merit (VVO) in 1980 and an honorary doctorate from the Dresden Transport University in 1985 . Most recently, from May 1987 to 1989, he was Hubert Egemann's successor as head of the transport and communications department of the SED Central Committee .
