Diethard Könke (born July 26, 1935 in Riesenburg ; † August 17, 2008 in Munich ) was a German civil engineer, professor of structural mechanics and structural engineering and vice president of the University of the Federal Armed Forces in Munich .

Life

After his high school on math and science high school in Moenchengladbach studied Diethard Könke from the winter semester 1956/1957 Civil Engineering at the Technical University of Hanover . During this time he became a member of the Hanover fraternity Arminia and was temporarily member and 1st chairman of the civil engineering department in the Association of German Student Unions . After completing his main examination in 1962, Könke took up a position as a research assistant at the chair for statics at the Technical University of Hanover under Alf Pflüger . After Pflüger's appointment as rector of the university, Könke took on the role of rectorate assistant.

In November 1972 the doctorate to Dr.-Ing. with the topic On the statics of the circular plate with very large deformations .

In 1975, the newly founded University of the Federal Armed Forces in Munich appointed Diethard Könke professor for structural mechanics and structural engineering at the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Surveying. There it played a key role in the development and expansion of the Bundeswehr University and its department, including the creation of a model for capacity development at the university and the establishment of an original office in which the rules and regulations of all faculties were summarized.

As part of his research and teaching activities, Könke set up the laboratory for engineering informatics with the aim of developing numerical simulation methods in the field of structural mechanics . He also founded the Institute for Technology of Intelligent Systems (ITIS) at his university in 1993 .

In the early 1990s Diethard Könke was vice dean and from 1995 to 1996 dean of his faculty. 1997 to 1998 he represented the University of the Federal Armed Forces in Munich as Vice President .
