Dietrich Borm

Dietrich Borm (born October 13, 1928 in Elditten, Heilsberg district , East Prussia , today Ełdyty Wielkie, Poland; † March 9, 2018 in Hildesheim ) was a German surgeon .

Life

In 1939 Borm came to the Luisengymnasium Memel . In January 1944, the entire class was drafted into military service, Borm as a naval helper in an anti-aircraft battery on the Curonian Spit . When Memel was encircled by the Red Army , Borm was moved by ship and train via Pillau to Swinoujscie . He experienced the end of the war in Kiel . From winter semester 1948/49 he studied medicine at the Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel , the University of Innsbruck and the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg . State examination and doctorate in June 1954 in Kiel. In 1954/55 he was a compulsory assistant in Lübeck and Kiel. On November 1, 1955, he became a scientific assistant to Robert Wanke in the Kiel surgery department. On October 1, 1963, he was transferred to Berthold Löhr . In 1964 he became the second senior physician, on August 1, 1967, and permanent deputy to the clinic director. With a thesis on primary hyperparathyroidism he qualified as a professor in 1965. In 1970 he was appointed associate professor . From February 1, 1971 to March 31, 1994 he was head of the Hildesheim St. Bernward Hospital . In 1982 he headed the 129th meeting of the Association of Northwest German Surgeons in Hildesheim . From January 1992 to December 1999 he was Medical Director of the St. Bernward Hospital.
