Dietrich Remy

Dietrich Remy (born May 16, 1918 in Frankfurt am Main ; † January 9, 2007 in Bremen ) was a German internist.

Life

After Dietrich Remy in 1937 at the Gymnasium in Lüneburg had obtained a high school, he studied at the universities of Bonn , Berlin , Munich , Graz and Göttingen and the Medical Academy Dusseldorf medicine . In 1941, like his father and grandfather, he became a member of the Corps Rhenania Bonn, which was officially dissolved at the time and only survived in secret . In 1943 he passed the state examination and was awarded a Dr. med. PhD. During the Second World War , he took part as a reserve doctor. Initially assistant doctor in Lüneburg, he moved to the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf in 1947 . In 1954 he was appointed senior physician at the Medical Clinic of the Bremen City Hospital. In 1955 he returned to the Eppendorfer Clinic. In 1957, he completed his habilitation in internal medicine at the University of Hamburg . In 1958 he was appointed senior physician.

As a professor, Remy was appointed director of the medical clinic at the central hospital in Bremen-Mitte in 1962 . Remy converted the medical clinic into a scientifically oriented clinic with three independent medical clinics. He himself took over the management of Medical Clinic I, responsible for hematology , oncology and infectious diseases , which he headed until his retirement in 1983.

In addition to his hospital work, Remy taught internal medicine at the universities of Hamburg, Bremen and Göttingen .

Remy was a member of the Senate for advanced medical training of the German Medical Association and advanced training officer of the Bremen Medical Association . He was also chairman of the Bremen Medical Association, member of the board of the professional association of German internists and committee member of the German Society for Internal Medicine .
