Dietz-Werner Steck

Dietz-Werner Steck (born July 30, 1936 in Waiblingen ; † December 31, 2016 in Stuttgart ; actually Werner Steck ) was a German theater and television actor . He was best known for the role of Ernst Bienzle in the crime series Tatort .

Career

From 1959 to 1962 Steck attended the State University for Music and Performing Arts in Stuttgart . There his teacher Lilly Ackermann advised him to use Dietz as an additional first name. From 1962, Steck was a member of the ensemble at the Stuttgart State Theater and at the Old Theater in Stuttgart . In 1995, Steck took on the leading role Götz von Berlichingen at the Jagsthausen Castle Festival . Steck has been a freelance actor since 1996. In 2000 he played the speaking role of Richard Wagner in the musical Ludwig in Füssen . In 2008, Steck played Willi Loman , the main character in Arthur Miller's drama Death of a Salesman , at the Stadttheater Konstanz .

After Steck had worked as a supporting actor in several Tatort episodes from 1973 onwards, he played the role of chief inspector Ernst Bienzle from 1991 to 2006 for the crime scene of the then SDR (later for the SWR ) . On May 27, 2006, the play Bienzle and the Murder on the Neckar was premiered in the Alten Schauspielhaus in Stuttgart . In the play written by Felix Huby , Steck appeared for the first time as Bienzle on a theater stage.

In addition, Steck appeared in the Swabian dialect series Laible and Frisch in 2009 .

Steck had been married to Hanna Steck since 1959. Several children arose from the marriage. Steck last lived in a nursing home in Stuttgart-Birkach.

Dietz-Werner Steck died on New Year's Eve 2016 at the age of 80. His final resting place is in the Ostfilder cemetery in the Sillenbuch district of Stuttgart .

Honors

In 2002 he was awarded the Baden-Württemberg Medal of Merit for his acting performance in the crime scene . In 2007, Steck was appointed honorary commissioner in Stuttgart because of his services to the reputation of the Baden-Württemberg police.
