Dinocap is a mixture of chemical compounds from the group of substituted carboxylic acid esters and dinitrophenols .

properties

Dinocap is a flammable dark brown liquid which is practically insoluble in water. The compound is a mixture of ( RS ) -2,6-dinitro-4- and ( RS ) -2,4-dinitro-6-octylphenyl crotonates in which "octyl" is a mixture of 1-methylheptyl, 1-ethylhexyl and 1 -Propylpentyl groups, with the commercial products containing approximately a 2: 1 ratio of 6-octyl and 4-octyl isomers.

Dinocap is approximately 22% meptyldinocap , its most active isomer.

use

Dinocap is used as an active ingredient in crop protection products. It works as a fungicide and partly as an acaricide . The substance was first used in 1930. It was first approved in the 1950s.

Admission

A plant protection product with the active ingredient Dinocap was approved in Austria. In Switzerland there were several approved preparations against powdery mildew , but all approvals have now been suspended. In the EU states including Germany and Austria as well as in Switzerland no pesticides with this active substance are allowed anymore.

Trade names

Arathan, Capran, Caproyl, Mildex
