Meptyldinocap is a 1: 1 mixture of two isomeric chemical compounds from the group of dinitrophenyl - crotonates . It is a fungicide and was launched in 2007 by Dow AgroSciences .
Structure and properties
Meptyldinocap is a 1: 1 mixture of two isomeric compounds and the ISO name of the most active components of Dinocap , an even more complex mixture of substances . Meptyldinocap is a yellowish-brown liquid and almost insoluble in water. With a half-life of 15 days, it is not persistent in the soil. Migration into the groundwater is unlikely, and it also degrades quickly in aqueous systems.
Use and mode of action
Meptyldinocap is used as a fungicide to control powdery mildew . It acts selectively on the target organism, although the exact reasons for this selectivity have not been researched. It is used in the agricultural cultivation of wine, fruit and vegetables. Meptyldinocap acts as a contact poison by disrupting the cell's metabolism, suppressing spore formation and blocking cell respiration.
Admission
In a number of EU countries, including Austria, but not in Germany and Switzerland, plant protection products with this active ingredient are permitted (trade names Karathane Star, Karathane Gold).
