Dinu Bogdan Moldovan (born May 3, 1990 in Alba Iulia ) is a Romanian football goalkeeper . Since 2013 he has been in the professional squad of the Spanish second division team SD Ponferradina .

life and career

Start of career and move to Spain

Moldovan was born in Alba Iulia in 1990, where he started his football career at a young age. At the time of his move abroad, he was working in the youth division of FC Ardealul Cluj-Napoca , around an hour and a half drive from his hometown. Of these, it finally came in the summer of 2008 to switch to the youth teams of the Spanish first division club Espanyol Barcelona , after he had received positive attention in a youth tournament. There he was initially active in the A-youth, but at the end of the 2009/10 season he was also used for the first time in the B-team of the club with play in the third group of the third-class Segunda Division B, which is divided into four seasons . By the end of the season, the Romanian goalkeeper was used in the Espanyol Barcelona B team, which has emerged as the elevator team in recent years, in a total of five league games. After they had only managed to get promoted to the third highest division in the country in the previous season, Moldovan rose with the team in the 2009/10 season , albeit just barely, again in the fourth division of Spain . In the 2010/11 season , he and the team in fifth place in the final ranking couldn't make it back to the top and they had to stay in fourth division. Also in the 2011/12 season Moldovan remained loyal to his team and finally managed to move up to the third highest soccer league in Spain after being relegated and ranked second. At the same time, he was often brought into the squad by the professional team, but was not used in any competitive game. Among other things, he sat on the bench in five league games of the professional team in the 2010/11 season , although actually only the third or fourth goalkeeper and thus with little prospect of a professional appearance soon. In addition, he also played international matches for the U-21 national team of Romania from 2011 after he received no attention from the association for a long time.

Return to Romania

For the summer break before the 2012/13 season, Dinu Moldovan returned to his home country and joined the first division club Astra Giurgiu , who at that time and until September 2012 was still called FC Astra Ploieşti . There he was mainly in the early stages of the 2012/13 season as a substitute goalkeeper in the professional squad, where he sat on the bench in seven of the first ten league games and could wait for a possible failure of goalkeeper Silviu Lung Jr. From the eleventh round of the current season, Moldovan was finally no longer in the professional squad, which he also took as an opportunity to look around for a new employer. He finally found it after the winter break in the league competitor Universitatea Cluj , to which he transferred in early March 2013. There he was in eleven of the 13 remaining league games as a substitute goalkeeper in the squad and was used for the full 90 minutes in the last game of the season, a 1: 3 defeat against city rivals CFR Cluj , and thus made his official professional debut at the age of now 23 years. In addition to Dinu Moldovan, the professional team from Universitatea Cluj, which reached twelfth place in the table in the final ranking, came with Dragoș Balauru (17 appearances), Vladimir Niculescu and Ionuț Boșneag (eight appearances each), and Cătălin Samoilă (1 appearance) a total of four other goalkeepers on their appearances in the league. With Florin Matache a sixth goalkeeper in professional squad of the club was in this season.

First professional assignments in Spain

After less than half a year at his new club, the signs of a new change of club Moldowan for the summer break of 2013 were already saying goodbye. At the end of July 2013 it was announced that Moldovan would move back to Spain, this time to the Segunda División to SD Ponferradina . After he was not in the professional squad of his team in the first two league games of the 2013/14 season , he was the second goalkeeper on the bench of SD Ponferradina for almost the entire remaining season. He was mostly a replacement for the goalkeeper and former Spanish U-17 international Roberto Santamaría Ciprián , but ranked ahead of Raúl Moreno Artalejo , the third goalkeeper in the league, who joined the team at the beginning of 2014. After sitting on the bench in the third round in the 2-2 away draw against Real Murcia , he was used for the first time in Spain's second-highest football league the following week when he won the 1-0 away win over AD Alcorcón replaced the injured Santamaría from the 84th minute of the game. Since Santamaría had to take a break due to an injury a week later, Dinu Moldovan was used as a substitute goalkeeper again, this time for the full duration of 90 minutes. When the regular goalkeeper had recovered and took his regular place again, the former Romanian junior international was mainly the second goalkeeper in the squad. From the end of March 2014 he had pushed Santamaría out of the gate again and came so until April 6, 2014, a 0-1 defeat against Recr. Huelva , to two more league appearances. In the very closely staggered Segunda División, Moldovan and his team are currently (as of April 8, 2014) in 20th place on a relegation place. The young Romanian was also used in the Copa del Rey 2013/14 ; in the second main round match against FC Girona he was in action for over 90 minutes, but he could not prevent the 1: 2 defeat and the associated elimination of his team from the current competition.
