The Directorate Federal riot ( BPOLD BP ) is a German sub authority of the Federal Police which the Federal riot police leads and the Federal police headquarters is immediately downstream. With 6,200 employees, including 5,100 law  enforcement officers , it is the largest of the eleven directorates of the Federal Police. The headquarters of the federal police authority is in Fuldatal north of Kassel in the federal police station “Dr.- Konrad-Adenauer ”, one third of which also extends to the municipality of Vellmar .

tasks

The Federal Riot Police Directorate leads, coordinates and supports the ten federal police departments. It ensures an even utilization and efficient deployment of the forces of the federal riot police and provides special command and control equipment. The local jurisdiction extends over the entire federal territory ( BPolZV ).

The tasks of the federal riot police include:

  1. Reinforcement on special occasions with focus operations of closed operational units,
  2. Supporting the police forces of the federal states in carrying out their tasks in cases of particular importance,
  3. Support of the Federal Criminal Police Office and other authorities on special occasions (e.g. personal and room security, cordon measures, searches),
  4. Coping with special danger situations,
  5. Participation in police or other non-military tasks in the context of international measures and
  6. Use for humanitarian purposes or to protect the urgent interests of the Federal Republic of Germany abroad.

The Federal Riot Police Directorate is headed by a President and a Permanent Representative. In addition, the management has staff units . The management is divided into three “staff areas”, each with three to five subject areas.

The federal riot police's forces include 28  deployment hun- dreds , five evidence preservation and arrest hun- dreds (BFHu) and five technical deployment hun- dreds. Each department also has a support unit with various special forces and support units, evidence preservation and documentation units, which ensure the technical preservation of evidence in the case of arrests of criminals with video / photo recordings that can be used in court, and reconnaissance units, which open and covertly obtain information, in particular through targeted surveillance of people, objects or events.

Bet hundreds

The federal police departments have a total of 28 deployment units, which are divided into deployment trains with groups, sometimes semi-groups and squads. Operation hundreds are mobile and closed units with about 120 officials. They are led by a Hundred Leader.

Evidence and arrest hundreds

Furthermore, there are five departments each with an evidence preservation and arrest hundred (BFHu), which each consist of three evidence and arrest units (BFE). In the federal police departments of Uelzen, Blumberg, Bayreuth, Sankt Augustin and Hünfeld, the third BFE has been upgraded to a BFE + . These are used in particularly dangerous situations or searches and support the GSG 9 of the Federal Police .

Technical service hundreds

Five of the ten departments each have a technical task force, which is divided into two technical task forces and a water cannon special car unit. Your tasks are to set up and clear barriers and control points, to search for and mark unconventional explosive devices and incendiary devices , to detect NBC warfare agents and to decontaminate emergency services, to set up emergency systems for energy supply and lighting as well as to treat and transport drinking water.

The Directorate federal riot police in 2008 was built . The Federal Police Headquarters was previously stationed at the location.
